32: leaning into discomfort
Has it been a week of obstacles or what? These past few days have offered me a multitude of moments of growth and opportunities to learn. From personal relationships, problematic situations at work and uncomfortable conversations with friends and family members. Time and time again, I have CHOOSEN to move forward from a mindset of curiosity and expansion, but it has not been a walk in park, so I thought I’d share what’s been useful as I've navigated my way forward.

- Breath – activate your parasympathetic nervous system with intentionally taking deeper and fuller breaths. This is an absolute game changer! When you slow down your breath you reduce the chances of your heart rate escalating, cortisol pumping through your system and sending yourself into a tizzy.
- Pause + ask yourself three core questions that resonate with you and activate your prefrontal cortex. I listed a few below, but whatever clicks put them in your back pocket for the next time you’re feeling triggered.
- Where do I feel this discomfort within my body?
- What am I learning?
- How can I move forward with curiosity?
- Ask your intuition for guidance. You don’t have to know all of the answers and more often than not in these scenarios, you really won't know what the best option… because it’s never happened before! So, allow your inner teacher to be the guide and listen to the guidance.
- Then actually do whatever is initially guiding within you… don’t overthink it, just trust.
- There is a high likelihood, you must mess something up along the way or whatever you are doing doesn’t fall perfectly into place the way you once imagined it to. Don’t fret my pet, use this as a learning opportunity and integrate the lessons from an open mind.
This is not a fool proof plan, but it’s a great start! Try it out next time shit hits the fan and let me know how you feel, move and grow. Have questions or want to share your story? Reach out on my website, www.coachingwithferrah or connect with me directly on Instagram @ferrahchino. XOXO
