33: natural cold + flu remedies

We've all been there... coming down with a cold with a million things to do but knowing darn well we are fading quickly! This past week, I came down a nasty cold and it  knocked me on my butt! I quickly recognized that I didn't do my usual preventive tricks that have worked time and time again, so I thought I'd share them with all of you!

Here are my go-to natural remedies for preventing cold season from ruining your plans:
  1. REST: we all know our bodies and immune systems require rest to fight off the flood of viruses spreading this time of year, so don't resist... REST.
  2. Stay Hydrated: yup, yup again this is one that we all know to be true but rarely take note of how much water we are drinking each day. Stay on top of drinking 90-120 oz per day and you will feel more energized, skin more refreshed and body replenished.
  3. Witchy Herbs:
    1. turmeric: known for it's healing property specifically in regards to inflammation and pain relief. There is so much research around this particular spice, there is no way to deny it's healing benefits.
    2. ginger: another panacea that we all know and love! Ginger's antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory qualities gives our immune system a boost it needs during this time of the year.
    3. lavender: improves sleep, treat skin blemishes, relieve pain, and reduces anxiety. Add a couple drops into your diffuser for a good night's rest.
    4. magnesium: crucial for your brain and body! It has many benefits, including for your heart, blood sugar levels, and mood. It’s found in various foods ranging from leafy greens to nuts, seeds, and beans.
    5. elderberry: provides your body with antioxidants and vitamins that can jumpstart a weak immune system. elderberry can also  tame inflammation, lessen stress, and help protect your heart.
  4. Bone Broth: improve your immune system because of the unique blend of amino acids found in it. Plus, this delicious broth offers  plenty of protein when other food items might not sound as appetizing.
  5. Zinc: Taking high doses of zinc for a cold may help you feel better faster. Studies show taking 75 mg to 100 mg of zinc daily at the first sign of a cold can shorten its duration by about two days by increasing the number of white blood cells fighting off any unwanted
