63: for the breast of us co-founder + CEO, Marissa Thomas
Empowering Women of Color in Their Breast Cancer Journeys
Marissa Thomas, BSHCA, Co-Founder + CEO of for the breast of us! Marissa Thomas, a dynamic Woman of Color and a visionary leader, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the tender age of 35. This life-altering moment led her to co-found “For the Breast of Us” in May 2019, alongside Jasmine Souers, another resilient breast cancer survivor. Their mission was clear: to craft a sanctuary where women of color battling breast cancer could find resources that speak directly to them, shared by voices they could relate to. When she’s not championing the needs and stories of her fellow breast cancer baddies, Marissa treasures the moments spent with her son Siaire, her extended family and friends, and indulges in her love for travel. Marissa Thomas is not just the CEO of “For the Breast of Us”; she’s a beacon of hope, strength, and unwavering support for women of color everywhere, navigating the stormy seas of breast cancer with grace and resilience.
For the breast of us empowers women of color affected by breast cancer to make the rest of their lives the best of their lives through advocacy, community, and education. Their mission transcends beyond awareness; it is a heartfelt commitment to uplifting, educating, and advocating for women of color battling breast cancer. They believe in a world where every woman, regardless of her background, has access to the support, knowledge, and care needed to navigate her breast cancer journey with strength and dignity.
